Cindy Williams
Penny Marshall (Laverne DeFazio)
Bronx, New York–born Penny Marshall got into show business with the help of her brother Garry, who, when working as a producer in 1970, cast her as Myrna Turner on "The Odd Couple." Marshall went on to appear on "Happy Days," "Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Bob Newhart Show," but hit gold with "Laverne & Shirley." With directing credits that include box office hits "Big," "Awakenings," "A League of Their Own," "The Preacher's Wife" and "Riding in Cars With Boys," Marshall has the distinction of being the first female to direct a movie that grossed more than $100 million. Cindy Williams (Shirley Feeney)
Cindy Williams graduated from Los Angeles City College in 1967 and quickly landed roles on "Room 222," "Nanny and the Professor" and in a handful of B-movies. Her breakthrough performance came in the classic movie "American Graffiti," as Laurie, the girlfriend of Ron Howard's character. When Williams and friend Penny Marshall appeared on an episode of "Happy Days," the pals had such on-screen chemistry that a spin-off series, "Laverne & Shirley," was created around them. In 1991, Williams and her husband, Bill Hudson, teamed up to produce "Father of the Bride," starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, as well as its 1995 sequel. Learn more about Cindy Williams. »
