Before running after Amanda the mom said quit doing this to me. Also, the drowning was never really shown to the very end - always left a little question. Then when she was having a bad time with the baby, she said "stop doing this to me - you are just like your sister, Amanda." I think maybe the mom drowned Amanda.

Also, you know they never really showed exactly how the drowning happened. Bits and pieces almost alluded to her being drowned by the mom. I was beginning to wonder if the mom drowned Amanda on purpose. She said when she first started chasing after her - something about never minding her and she was always having to chase after her. Also, did any of you pick up in the movie the part when the mom got so upset at Caitlin and said "why are you doing this to me? You are just like your sister Amanda."

I also think that at the end of the movie she committed suicide. I think that she "drowned" because she had emotionally died when her daughter had died, and although she had survied she was dead inside since that day, and she also could not get over the grief.
I think that the point of the movie was to portray how trapped, confused and misunderstood sufferes of post-parten depression are. It also shows that although others may think that they are crazy, the events make perfectly sense to the sufferer. Because think of it logically: a five month old baby cant walk, no matter how possesd it is. Demon/spirit possesion can only use the physical abilites that the body has - and a five month old baby can not do what the mother thought, such as walk, think about killing her, etc. I think that the little girl (her daughter) was her grief manifesting itself to her in a physical form, and the tape at the end was the director verfiying her condition by showing the audience what SHE had seen.
