PROVIDENCE

Dr. Sydney Hansen (Melina Kanakaredes), a successful plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, has had her fill of giving nips and tucks to wealthy patients. After the sudden death of her mother (Concetta Tomei) at her sister's wedding, the good doctor decides to leave her private practice and permanently return to Providence, Rhode Island, to help her family cope.

Sydney moves back into her childhood family home, where her goodhearted veterinarian father (Mike Farrell) and equally quirky siblings Joanie (Paula Cale) and Robbie (Seth Peterson) still live. Their deceased mother, Lynda, pops in from time to time in Sydney's daydreams to provide a little afterlife advice.

As she works to reinvent her life, Sydney gets a job at a local free clinic. There she'll befriend a whole cast of characters, including fellow doctor Dr. Helen Reynolds (Leslie Silva) and the outspoken nurse Izzy Nunez (Samaria Graham). As difficult as the transition is, Sydney settles into Providence and starts anew. Viewers will enjoy all the dramatic and humorous moments along the way.
