The reality? Most women would say that finding the perfect pair of jeans for their figure is among the most challenging tasks around. And since shopping for denim is often a test of patience and self-confidence (especially when faced with designer-size 12's that fit like 2's), once you find ones that fit, you wear them till they fall apart. Well, we're here to tell you: Don't give up hope! No matter whether you're boy-shaped or curvy, size 2 or 20, following these few simple steps will make the process a whole lot easier.
Your Shape: Plus-Size
The Perfect Pair: Boot Cut
For women with a fuller figure, tracking down the right jeans can be especially challenging. Try a pair with a small flare at the bottom of the leg — also known as a boot cut — to help balance out your hips and create a long, lean look. Choose a dark wash (deep indigo or black denim), which will give you a slimmer appearance. Added embellishments like large back pockets streamline the look and give you an extra booty boost.
Your Shape: Short Torso
The Perfect Pair: Low Waist
If you have a short torso, your best bet is to go with jeans that hit lower at the waist. This will make you look longer. Stick with fitted, straight-leg or boot-cut jeans that fall just below your hip bones. Steer clear of loose, baggy denim — which will hide your curves and look sloppy — but avoid jeans that go too low! Road test a pair in the dressing room by bending over, squatting down to pick something up and doing other total-body movements to make sure the pair you're wearing doesn't reveal too much in the front or the back.
Your Shape: Slim Frame
The Perfect Pair: Straight Leg
To add some oomph to a slimmer, boyish bod, reach for jeans with a straight leg. Stay away from a flared or wide leg; it won't help to elongate your frame and may make you appear out of proportion. The slim outline of straight-leg jeans ensures that the fabric won't bunch up in the wrong places, drag on the floor or otherwise misbehave.
Your Shape: Short Legs
The Perfect Pair: Extra Long
Want your legs to come across long and sleek? Choose jeans that are narrow through the hips and legs and feature a straight leg or a boot-cut style in a longer length. Opt for a fitted style so the fabric won't bunch at the waist. The resulting streamlined silhouette will create a clean, crisp, leggy look. Also, pick denim with a darker wash, since this will also give you the appearance of longer legs.

im 5"4 and about 137 pounds
i have pretty wide hips but really little thighs, please help me find a size and fit for me
I'm apprehensive about spending a lot of money on my clothes, because it really doesn't strike me as something I should be spending my money on (gas, school books, college tuition and sorority dues, my cell phone bill... those I can accept.)
I guess my question is.. are there any brands that cut a little lean in the rear and thigh (while still leaving a normal waist) that aren't more expensive than say.. 50.00?
